“Jimmy Lewis thinks the answer is yes. Lewis is the CEO of HomeTown Health, a coalition of rural hospitals and other partners, and has called HB 769 a ‘silver bullet’.
“HB 769 has already kept open hospitals that would have faced closure,” Lewis says. “Where else can the state of Georgia get a return on investment like that? A rural hospital is an economic engine. They typically employ between 120 and 150 people, who work the best-paying jobs in the community.”
