Yesterday was a major day;
- Ga. Senate OKs bill to fund nonprofit hospitals, disclose finances
- This would fund $1 billion to state budget with Provider Fee and
- Would implement transparency as was originally presented in HB198
- This passed Senate 42-11
- Hospital transparency, Medicaid funding bill OK’d by Senate, then sidetracked
- It then failed in a reconsideration vote
- Having moved to the House for a vote to agree this bill was tabled in a major defeat for the House
- The bill will be brought up again this morning for passage in that this bill has the One billion Provider Fee
- There was major legislative unhappiness as a result of this. Bad things can happen in a case like this.
