HomeTown is proud to have released the FIRST Certification centered on Artificial Intelligence for Rural Health in July 2025.

A rural healthcare professional who applies artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to solve real-world problems and ensure the responsible use of AI within an organization – that is what it means to be an AI Practitioner in Rural Healthcare.. This program is designed to equip rural healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to responsibly adopt, implement and scale generative AI in your organization.

Entry-level Certification

This learning plan is made up of the five following required courses:

  1. AI Overview: Understanding the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Rural Healthcare
  2. AI Ethics, Risks, and Responsible Use in Rural Healthcare
  3. Generative AI: An Overview of the Power and Limitations of Generative AI
  4. AI Prompting (Part 1): How to Guide AI Tools Clearly, Safely, and Effectively
  5. AI Prompting (Part 2): How to Guide AI Tools Clearly, Safely, and Effectively

At least two of the following elective courses must also be completed:

  1. AI for Rural Healthcare Leaders
  2. AI for Rural Technology Leaders
  3. Generative AI for Support Departments
  4. Generative AI for Project Management and Quality Improvement
