Four ways to save a Rural Hospital when cutting expenses no longer works.

Given:

  1. Rural Hospital Cash positions are possibly worse than they have ever been for the neediest rural hospitals
  2. This is a national trend
  3. Cash positions in many Georgia rural hospitals are less than 5 days cash in some cases less than 2 days cash
  4. Desperation can easily set in for the community
  5. Payables can approach or exceed 100 days
    1. Hospitals can close due to a fiscal call by vendors, meaning call the debt because their bank has called their debt through FDIC
  6. 2020 first quarter is wreaking havoc on many rural hospital revenues and cash because the first quarter of a year carries premiums higher and deductibles and copays very high and requiring cash for services rendered OR the charges go to self-pay and indigent due being under insured.
