Two major Ombudsman bills introduced for health care: HB198 and SB74
HomeTown Health provides “advise and serve” services to its nearly 50 members, plus many contract services and associated hospitals on many subjects in several states. On the subject of CON Bills HB 198 and SB 74, HomeTown has been sought out by many legislators and hospital CEO’s for guidance. Because these bills are ombudsman bills, i.e. carry many issues in one bill, HomeTown has sought to provide truth and facts pertaining to the issues of the above bills. Some have advocated that these bills must be killed. Because of the nature of these bills , it is critically important for Rural hospital CEO’s and their hospital boards to understand the bills in total and the impact on rural hospitals of global positions such as “kill the whole bill” before sign on to kill the bill. Major considerations for these bills may include. Killing the bill takes rural hospital away from he table. This is a deliberative process.
